Personal Importance of Work UDSM was the first student organization I joined at UW, and it was important in helping me clarify my passion for service through healthcare. This experience allowed me to reflect about what activities I actually valued, and why. This 'why' was ultimately the feelings of contentment and satisfaction I felt after a volunteer experience, and it propelled me to take a leadership position in the organization. Through UDSM I learned the value of confidently making personal contributions and advocating for my point of view, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the whole group. I realized through UDSM that I want to continue service through healthcare throughout my career. Thus, this work reinforced my passion to become a physician, and increase equity by serving those at the margins of my community. |
